When God Feels Silent and You Wonder If He Has Forgotten You

Seasons of heartbreak, rejection, loneliness, unanswered prayer, or prolonged waiting can make God's presence feel distant. When life is painful and heaven seems quiet, our emotions can begin telling us that we have been overlooked or abandoned.
In this Your Nightly Prayer devotional, Tracie Miles reflects on Isaiah 49:15-16, where God compares His care for His people to the love of a mother for her nursing child. He then gives an even stronger assurance: even if human love were to fail, He would not forget His people. The image of a name written on the palms of God's hands communicates continual remembrance, attention, and care.
Feeling forgotten does not mean you have been forgotten. Scripture does not dismiss the pain of loneliness or tell believers they should never feel abandoned. Instead, it anchors us in truths that remain steady when our emotions are not. God's silence is not proof of His absence, waiting is not proof of rejection, and pain is not proof that you have slipped from His sight.
If you feel forgotten by family, friends, a spouse, coworkers, or even by God, this prayer invites you to return to what Scripture says about your identity and His character. You are seen, known, loved, and continually before Him. You may not yet understand what God is doing, but His promise remains: He has not forgotten you.
